Biography
Jeffrey M. Cooper, Esq. has spent his entire twenty-two year career helping real people who have been injured in accidents and due to negligence get the compensation they deserve. Jeff currently handles cases including medical malpractice, motor vehicle, wrongful death, product liability and insurance bad faith. Driven by a passion to helping people in need, Jeff does not back down from what he believes is right.
As a young lawyer Jeff built his reputation handling underdog cases that other attorneys refused to take. He realized quickly that it is a David v. Goliath type of battle going up against insurance companies and the large law firms they hire and that there is no better feeling then helping the Davids of the world win.
In Jeff’s first year of practice he won a six figure verdict for his injured client who was accused by one of the biggest insurance companies in the state of making a fraudulent claim. Since that time he has focused on becoming the best trial lawyer he can be by studying the greats and putting what he learned into practice.
More recently, Jeff has won large verdicts in difficult cases in the fields of motor vehicle, wrongful death and medical malpractice. In 2013 he obtained one of the largest verdicts in the state at the time of $2,517,695.56 involving the wrongful death of a motorcyclist who was struck by a drunk driver.
More recently, in 2021 Jeff won a jury verdict of $4,200,000 which ranked as the 98th highest verdict in the United States that year for a client who suffered a stroke during a routine operation to remove a wart. In 2023 he won a jury verdict of $6,500,000 for a client who lost her baby during a traumatic vaginal delivery that he proved should have been carried out by cesarean section.
Over the course of his career Jeff has also settled cases for his clients, many of which have exceeded $2,000,000, and has won several verdicts including $330,000, $250,000, $175,000 and $98,000 where the offer going in was zero.
Jeff is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), which is an invitation only organization of the finest lawyers and judges in America, and was recently nominated as a fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), another invitation only organization that limits its membership to less than one-half of one percent of North American lawyers and judges. He has also been recognized by SuperLawyers (2008 - present), the National Trial Lawyers “Top 100” Medical Malpractice lawyers (Connecticut), the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has received ratings of 10/10 on Avvo and 5/5 on Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review.
Outside of work Jeff is a regular guy and a good dad who enjoys spending time with family, watching basketball, playing golf, cooking on the grill, building with Lego and cutting the grass.
